2016 World Falun Dafa Day celebrations in Sydney

SYDNEY—On Saturday (May 7) Falun Dafa practitioners held a day of celebrations for World Falun Dafa Day, marking the 24th anniversary of the practice’s introduction to the public. There was exercises and meditation in Hyde Park, followed by a parade from Town Hall to Belmore Park starting at 1:30pm.

Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong is a meditation practice consisting of 5 gentle-moving exercises (one of which is a meditation), and guiding principles of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. The practice was introduced to the public in 1999 by Mr Li Hongzhi. Since its founding, Falun Dafa has spread to more than 100 countries around the world.

When the smoke cleared, Sydney put on a perfect day to celebrate the 24th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s (Falun Gong’s) introduction to the public. Falun Dafa is an exercise and meditation discipline which is based on Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

Some banners show the beauty of Falun Dafa, while in stark contrast others expose the brutal persecution practitioners have endured in China for the past 17 years, including forced organ harvesting.

I hope that city goers were able to gain a deeper understanding of the situation today.

Craig Kelly, Liberal Federal Member for Hughes, also stopped by to support the event. He posted these photos on Facebook:

His message:

Supporting the local Australian-Chinese Community

It’s always a pleasure talking about the importance of promoting Human Rights and Freedom of Speech with my very good friends in the Australian-Chinese community.—Mr Craig Kelly MP.

Lots of people took photos with their phones and cameras as they watched on the parade. The Chinese tourists who saw us were also amazed at how Falun Gong practitioners were able to openly celebrate their beliefs. Such an event could in no way be possible in China today.

We thank you for watching us on! World Falun Dafa day is on May 13, where a grand parade will be held in New York City. We hope to share more photos with you soon!
